Texas Star Hibiscus
Also known as Scarlet Rose Mallow, this plant is quite happy in temperate central Texas, preferring wet areas such as bogs, rain gardens, and ponds. It grows to 3-6’ tall, and 4’ wide, and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. In the winter, it will die back to the ground.
‘Henry Duelberg’ Salvia
This native Texas plant boasts dark purple-ish blue flowers which attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Once established, it is heat and drought tolerant, growing 2-3’ tall.
Cape Plumbago
A tender perennial that loves Texas heat, it is also known as the Skyflower, for its sky blue blossoms. It will flower profusely from May, til the first frost. It will sprawl as a ground cover, or fall over a wall or trellis.
